Mohanlal is rated one of the most talented actors in India.Mohanlal was born on May 21, 1960 in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala State (India) to Sri Viswanathan Nair(Late.) and Smt Santhakumari . He had an elder brother named (Late.) Pyare Lal. He did his schooling from Mudavanmukal School and Model School, Thiruvananthapuram(Trivandrum) and completed his BCom from M.G. College (Thiruvananthapuram).
He married Suchitra, daughter of veteran actor-producer K. Balaji, on 28 April 1988. He has two children - Pranav and Vismaya. Commonly he is know as Prince of Kerala . One of his classmates Priyadarshan is also one of the reputed film makers of Malayalam and Hindi film industry.
His range is enviable, his flair for comedy is impeccable and his dialogue delivery effortless. There are not many actors who can portray both comic and serious roles with the same ease.And that has reached upto Padmashri one of the nations highest civilian honour.
His first major breakthrough came in the film Manjil Virinja Pookkal (1980), in which he played a villain. The film was a major hit, and Mohanlal followed it up with more roles as a villain, most notably in Uyarangalil.
The film named 'Rajavinte Makan' was a real break-through in his career. It was this movie that made him a superstar. This period also saw him joining hands with many noted artistes like Padmarajan, Sreenivasan, Sathyan Anthikkad, Priyadarshan giving many notable movies like "Naadodikkattu", "Thoovaanathumbikal", "Nammukku Paarkan Munthirithoppukal", "T.P.Balagopalan M.A.", etc.
