Larsen and Toubro net profit up 40 per cent

• Engineering firm Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has reported a 40 per cent surge in net profit for the quarter ended December 31, 2007 compared to the same period last year.
  Net profit for the October-December quarter amounted to Rs 6.94 billion ($176 million) compared to Rs 5.16 billion ($130 million) during the corresponding period last year.
  The growing demand from industrial, infrastructure and construction sectors and efficient execution of large orders have contributed to this robust growth.
