Six killed in factory fire in China

  • Six women workers and a man died in a blaze at a private textile factory in Shantou, a special economic zone in China's Guangdong province.
    The fire broke out when the workers were asleep in the dormitory of the five-storey factory in the early hours today, police said adding 11 people were rescued by firemen.
    A storage room was located on the ground floor and the workshop was located on the second and fourth floors, with the third floor occupied by the owner, Xinhua news agency said.
    Another woman who suffered slight burns was reported to be in a "stable condition".
