Tata Nano Booking

The Nano could be the least expensive car at a little over Rs 1 lakh but its booking amount is not going to come cheap.The vehicles will be on display at dealerships from the first week of April 2009 and bookings will begin from the second week of April.
According to dealers, customers could end up paying up to Rs 70,000 as booking amount for the car.
Compare this to its closest rival, the Maruti 800, which costs nearly twice as much but the down payment is Rs 35,000 and Rs 50,000.
The Chevrolet Spark costs Rs 3.25 lakh but involves a booking amount of Rs 5,000. Similarly, a buyer would have to pay Rs 88,000 while booking the Hyundai i10, which costs Rs 4.10 lakh.

• The Tata Motors will give all the details concerning bookings on March 23.
• Tata Motors may consider appointing an independent agency to select customers on a priority basis.
• While the company has not detailed any production schedules, it is reliably learnt that the Nano will be assembled at the Pantnagar plant in Uttarakhand which is already home to the Ace pickup. This is an interim arrangement till the mother plant at Sanand in Gujarat is ready to roll out the car in numbers exceeding 150,000 units annually. The engines will be assembled in the Pune facility and then despatched to Pantnagar.

TCS - No salary hike next year, job cuts possible

• As part of cost cutting measures to tackle global economic downturn, IT major TCS on Thursday said job cuts are possible and also ruled out salary hikes next year.
• The variable pay component of TCS employees differs between 22 per cent and 35 per cent of his/her gross salary, depending on employee rank.

Tata Nano on March 23, 2009

Tata Motors on 25 Feb. 2009 announced that the much-awaited Tata Nano will be launched at a function in Mumbai on March 23, 2009.

The cars will be on display at Tata Motors dealerships from the first week of April 2009. Bookings will commence from the second week of April 2009.

"Oscar Millionaire" arrived !!!

The Oscar winning team of 'Slumdog Millionaire' was greeted with tears of joy, garlands and champagne at the airport Mumbai on its return from Resul Pookutty holds his Oscar trophy on arriving at the Mumbai airport.

Sound technician Resul Pookutty and actor Irrfan Khan were virtually mobbed by a large crowd of onlookers who had gathered at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, while Azharuddin and Rubina - the two slum kids who acted in the movie - were the cynosure of all eyes.
As they stepped out of the airport, the family members of both kids hugged them with tears of joy at their achievement.

When Pookutty stepped out, a cheering crowd offered him a bottle of champagne which he opened to a huge round of applause. All the team members were then garlanded by friends,
, relatives and fans. Pookutty was taken to his home in Goregaon suburb of northwest Mumbai in an open car.

Xenon XT Launched

Tata Motors launched the lifestyle four-door five-seater pick up Xenon XT in Mumbai.

The vehicle is priced in the range of Rs 7.62 lakh to Rs 8.58 lakh.

• The Xenon carries a warranty of two years or 75,000 km and will be retailed through 58 Tata passenger car dealerships across 39 cities. About 6,000 units of Xenon have been sold in Thailand, Algeria, Italy, Poland, Saudi Arabia and South Africa.
• The Xenon XT can be customised to suit individual preferences through a range of accessories which will be on sale along with the vehicle. Accessories include bed-liners, fog lamps, canopy, boot lid and rollover bars.

DA hike for Central government employees
